"URBEX is a large-scale wall sculpture exploring themes of post-industrial decay, urban archaeology, and material transformation. Hand-carved from laminated plywood and combined with salvaged oxidised steel, the work juxtaposes organic craftsmanship with the weathered remnants of industrial history.
The flowing wooden form envelops a heavily rusted steel core, preserving traces of its previous life through layers of corrosion, surface markings, and industrial patina. Referencing abandoned factories, forgotten infrastructure, and the aesthetics of urban exploration (urbex), the sculpture examines the passage of time and the beauty that emerges through deterioration.
Through the contrast of natural timber and aged metal, URBEX reflects on cycles of construction, decline, and renewal. The work occupies a space between contemporary sculpture, industrial artefact, and architectural relic, inviting viewers to reconsider the visual language of decay and the hidden narratives embedded within discarded materials."
